Biografie

Pallemaerts studied at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels with Maurice Kufferath and Arthur De Greef. In 1889 he moved to Buenos Aires. There he founded the Argentine Conservatory in 1894. Among his many pupils, the composer and multi-instrumentalist Enrique Maro Casella (1891-1948) deserves pride of place. In addition to piano music and orchestral works (Symphony in D, Boerenkermis ( Country Fair) and Fantasia Argentina) he composed vocal music on Dutch, French and Spanish texts. The oratorio Boduognat (on a Dutch text) and the opera Sangue fiamingo belong to his best-known works.
Edmundo Pallemaerts had four daughters who were excellent pianists.
